Getting started

What it does and what you need.

What does Organize My Resume do, and what do I need?

You upload your resume as a PDF or Word (DOCX) file and add the job posting. We show which of the posting's terms your resume has, which lines are hard to skim, and how to fix them. You fix them in your browser and download a clean PDF or Word file. You can also have a cover letter written from your resume and a job description.

Do I need an account?

Yes, to upload a resume, run an analysis or edit. Signing up is free. To look around first, the Sample analysis shows every score on a made-up resume and posting, with no sign-up.

Is there a free plan, and what's in it?

Yes. Free includes 3 analyses, 1 cover letter and 5 exports (PDF or Word) a month, plus the editor, Guided edit and the Country check. It also includes 1 follow-up email a month. The count starts over each calendar month. If you need more, see Pricing.

Scores

What each number means and how to move it.

What is keyword coverage?

A score out of 100 for how many of the job posting's terms your resume contains. Required terms are worth more than nice-to-have ones. Every term comes from the posting; we never add one of our own.

What is recruiter readability?

A check of each bullet for a weak opening, no number or result, buzzwords, and length over 30 words. Every flag says which rule it broke, and strong lines are marked too. It doesn't need a job posting.

What is the phrasing check?

A score that starts at 100 and drops for passive voice, filler phrases like "responsible for", buzzwords and very long sentences. It checks phrasing, not grammar.

Can I use this without a job posting?

Partly. Running an analysis from the Dashboard needs a job posting, because keyword coverage compares your resume to it. Without one, open the editor: it shows your recruiter readability and the lines to fix, no posting needed.

Why are there different scores?

Keyword coverage shows how your resume matches one posting. Recruiter readability and the phrasing check look at how the resume is written, whatever the job. They answer different questions, so they can move separately. For the working behind each, see How these numbers are worked out on the Sample analysis.

Can you guarantee I'll pass the ATS?

No one can, and our scores don't predict it. Applicant tracking systems (ATS) are set up differently by every employer, and most decisions are made by people. We show you what's missing and what's hard to skim; we can't tell you whether you'll get an interview or the job.

How long does an analysis take?

Keyword coverage and recruiter readability are calculated by fixed rules, so they come back quickly. Tips can take a little longer, especially when an AI model writes them. If the tips fail, your scores are still saved.

How do I improve my scores?

Start with recruiter readability: fix the lines it flags, like weak openings, no number or result, buzzwords and very long bullets. Then look at the missing terms in keyword coverage and add the ones that are true for you. Make the changes in the editor, where both scores update a moment after you stop typing, or go step by step in Guided edit. Insights shows which terms your postings keep asking for.

Editing

The editor, Guided edit, the Country check, cover letters, follow-up emails and saving.

Can I edit my resume here?

Yes. Your file is turned into text you can edit. Fix lines in the editor, where the scores update a moment after you stop typing, or go step by step with Guided edit. Save your changes, then download a PDF or Word file.

Is Guided edit AI?

No. Guided edit takes you through your resume section by section, and its suggestions come from fixed rules, the same for everyone, and so does every score. The only places AI is used are the tips on an analysis, the cover letters and the follow-up emails. Each analysis labels its tips General or AI-written. AI-written tips that mention numbers found in neither your resume nor the posting are dropped.

What is the Country check?

It shows which personal details employers in the US, Canada, the UK, Australia, the Gulf, Singapore, Japan or the Philippines may not expect on a resume, such as a birthdate, marital status, a photo or a full home address, and why. It runs on fixed rules, not AI. You decide what stays.

How does the cover letter work?

Open a resume, choose the Cover letter tab, and pick a job you've already scored or paste a new job description. You can add the company and the hiring manager's name, and choose a professional, warm or concise tone. We write a first draft from your saved resume. You can change any line, save it, copy it or download it as a text file. If you edit it and change your mind, Restore generated version brings back the first draft for free.

Does the cover letter make things up?

It's told to use only what your resume says, and we check each draft for a number that isn't in your resume or the job description. AI can still get things wrong or sound off, so read the letter before you send it, and change anything that isn't true for you. The letter is written by AI.

How do follow-up emails work?

Open a resume, choose the Follow-ups tab, and say what the email is for: after you applied, after an interview, or when you haven't heard back. Pick a job you've already scored or paste a new one, or start from a cover letter you wrote. For an interview thank-you, add one thing you discussed, because we can't know what was said. The email is written by AI from your saved resume. You can change the subject and any line, save it and copy it into your own email. We never send email for you. Restore generated version brings back the first draft for free.

How does saving work, and does each save keep a version?

The editor shows "Saved" or "Unsaved changes" and has a Save button. If changes stay unsaved for about five minutes, it saves them for you, and it asks before you leave with unsaved changes. Each save keeps a new version, and analyses and downloads use your latest saved version. You can't open or restore older versions.

Job postings

Pasting text, uploading a file or using a link.

How do I add a job posting?

Paste the text, or paste a link to the posting. On the Dashboard you can also upload a .txt file. Text fetched from a link always lands in the box for you to check, and nothing is scored until you choose to score it.

Is there a limit on posting length?

Yes, 20,000 characters. Over the limit, the buttons that score your resume are disabled, and the editor scores your resume without the posting. Cut the parts that aren't about the role, like company history, benefits and legal text.

Files and export

What you can upload and what you download.

What file types work?

PDF and DOCX, up to 20 MB. We read the text in the file, so a scanned PDF (a picture of text) can't be read. Save it again from the original document as a text PDF or a DOCX.

Can I download my edited resume?

Yes, as PDF or Word: one column, standard headings, selectable text. Each download is one export. Free includes 5 exports a month; passes include unlimited exports.

Which version does a download use?

Your latest saved version. If you have unsaved changes in the editor, save first: the download stays disabled until you do.

Plans and payments

Free, passes, what counts and how you pay.

What counts as an analysis?

Each analysis you run from the Dashboard or a resume page uses one, and it's saved to that resume's history. Editing your resume, the live score in the editor, Guided edit and the Country check don't use one.

What counts as an export?

Each PDF or Word download of your resume. Free includes 5 a month; passes include unlimited exports.

What does a pass include?

A 30-day pass (US$9 or ₱299) includes 50 analyses. A 90-day pass (US$19 or ₱699) includes 150 analyses, the same pace, and costs about US$8 (₱198) less than three 30-day passes. Both include unlimited exports. It's a one-time payment with no auto-renew; see Pricing.

How many cover letters do I get, and do they use up my analyses?

Cover letters have their own allowance, separate from analyses and exports. Free includes 1 a month. The 30-day pass includes 30 and the 90-day pass includes 60, for the length of the pass. Writing a new letter, including one for a job you've already written for, uses one. Editing, saving, restoring the first draft and deleting a letter don't.

How many follow-up emails do I get, and do they use up my cover letters?

Follow-up emails have their own allowance, separate from analyses, cover letters and exports. Free includes 1 a month. The 30-day pass includes 60 and the 90-day pass includes 120, for the length of the pass. Writing a new email, including one for a job you've already written for, uses one. Editing, saving, restoring the first draft and deleting an email don't.

Does a pass renew?

No. Passes are one-time purchases. Nothing renews, and there's nothing to cancel.

What happens when my pass ends?

You're back on Free with 3 analyses, 1 cover letter and 5 exports a month. It also includes 1 follow-up email a month. Your resumes, saved edits and past analyses stay in your account. Nothing is charged.

Why two prices?

You can pay in US dollars by card, or in pesos online with PayMongo. Each price is set on its own; we don't convert between them, so the price you see is the price you pay.

Who handles my payment, and who do I ask about a charge?

Card payments in US dollars go through Paddle. Payments in pesos go through PayMongo. We never see or store your payment details. If a charge looks wrong, or your pass isn't active after you paid, contact us with the email address on your account.

Privacy and data

What we keep, where AI is used, and how to delete it.

What do you store about me?

Your name, email and a hashed password; the resumes you upload, the text we extract and every version you save; the job postings you use and the analyses from them; the cover letters you ask for; the follow-up emails you ask for; and your plan and usage counts. Your payment details go to the payment provider, not to us. The Privacy Policy has the full list.

How long do you keep my data, and how do I delete it?

Your resume file, its saved versions, its analyses, its cover letters and its follow-up emails stay in your account until you delete them. Accounts with no sign-in or resume activity for 60 days are deleted, after a warning email 14 days before. Delete one resume with "Delete this resume" on its page, or your whole account from Settings with "Delete my account…", which asks for your password and can't be undone. "Download my data" in Settings gives you a zip of everything first.

Where is AI used, and is my resume used to train it?

The tips on an analysis, your cover letters and your follow-up emails can use AI, and each analysis labels its tips. General tips are written without AI and send nothing to an AI service. For AI-written tips, cover letters and follow-up emails we send your resume text and the job description, and for letters and emails any company, hiring manager or contact name and any note you typed, to Microsoft Foundry, an AI service. Scores, Guided edit and the Country check always run on fixed rules. Your resume isn't used to train AI. The Privacy Policy says who processes data for us.

Do you sell my data?

No. We don't sell your data and we don't show ads. The Privacy Policy covers what we collect and why.

Account and security

Email verification, passwords and sign-in.

Why do I need to verify my email?

It confirms the address is yours. You need it to run an analysis and to buy a pass, so we can send your receipt. The link in the email works for 24 hours. If it didn't arrive or has expired, choose "Resend email" in the banner at the top of the app; a new link replaces the old one.

I forgot my password. What do I do?

On the sign-in page choose "Forgot password?" and enter your email. If there's an account for it, we email a reset link that works for 30 minutes. The page shows the same message either way, so it doesn't reveal who has an account. We send at most 3 reset emails per address every 15 minutes.

What are the password rules?

Use at least 12 characters and at most 72 bytes (plain letters and digits count as one each; accented letters, emoji and non-Latin characters count as more), with upper and lower case letters, a number and a symbol. The same rules apply when you sign up, reset a password or change it in Settings. Changing it signs your other devices out.

Why is sign-in blocked, or why do I see "Too many unsuccessful sign-in attempts"?

After 5 failed sign-ins for the same email from the same place within 15 minutes, we pause sign-in for that email from there until the 15 minutes are up, even with the right password. Many failed sign-ins from one place, for any emails, pause sign-in from there too. Wrong guesses from somewhere else don't lock you out. Other actions have limits too, such as signing up or asking for reset emails. The message says how long to wait, and nothing is lost.

Troubleshooting

Messages you might see and what to do next.

The editor says my resume doesn't have editable text. Why?

We couldn't pull text out of the file, most often because it's a scanned PDF or a PDF made from a photo. Save it again from the original document as a text PDF or a DOCX, then upload it again. Scoring and the original file still work.

My upload failed. What do the messages mean?

"We couldn't read that file as a resume" means it isn't really a PDF or DOCX; export it again from the original document. "That file is too large" means it's over 20 MB. "We didn't open that file" means it failed our safety checks; save it again from the original and upload the new copy. "We're busy, try again in a few seconds" means the server is working on other requests; wait the time it gives and try again.

Is there a limit on how many resumes I can keep?

Yes. You can keep up to 20 resumes, the files together can take up to 200 MB, and you can upload up to 30 files a day. When you reach one of these, the message says which. Delete a resume you no longer need in My Resumes and try again. Each save makes a new version of a resume. After 50 saved versions, saving another removes the oldest ones, but never the first upload or the one you are working on. One save can hold up to 256 KB of text, far more than a resume needs.

Why am I asked to verify my email before I upload or save?

You can sign in and look around without verifying. Uploading, saving edits and running an analysis need a verified email address. Use "Resend email" in the banner at the top of the app, or in the message that appears where you tried. Nothing after a few minutes? Check your spam folder and try again after a minute. On a busy day we can't always send email; the message says when to try again.

I've used all my analyses. What now?

On Free, your analyses start over at the start of next month; the message shows the date. On a pass, the analyses in it are for the whole pass and it doesn't include more. Editing, the live score, Guided edit, the Country check and exports still work, and everything you've saved stays in your account.

Why couldn't it write my cover letter?

Sometimes a draft fails our checks, for example it's too short or too long, repeats stock phrases, or includes a number that isn't in your resume or the job description. We try twice, and if neither draft clears them we show a message instead of a letter. A failed try didn't use any of your cover letters, so you can try again. If it keeps failing, check that the job description is pasted in full and that your resume has text in the editor. If you've used your allowance, the page says so.

Why couldn't it write my follow-up email?

Sometimes a draft fails our checks, for example it's too short or too long, repeats stock phrases, or includes a number that isn't in your resume, the job description or your note. We try twice, and if neither draft clears them we show a message instead of an email. A failed try didn't use any of your follow-up emails, so you can try again. If you started from a cover letter, check that the letter is still there. If you've used your allowance, the page says so.
